Enter The Tomb of Dracula!

Had a rough night. Just drawing for fun here. Bella Lugosi’s Dracula is one of my favorite horror movies. Thought I’d show some Drac’ love. Finished it right before the sun came up interestingly enough. Still trying to hit the right marks and make a really solid piece. Haven’t been able to do that in awhile. Instead I’m whipping out these mediocre pieces. Like I said…rough night.

Retro Arcade Art

So I finally got around to playing Super Mario Galaxy and got a ‘lil idea. I’m a retro gamer and since I adore the classic Mario games I figured why not design some cabinet art as if Super Mario Galaxy was made in the late 80’s as an arcade game.

So I came up with this:

Galaxy

I looked at the old Mario Bros arcade cabinet side art for inspiration. Just flat colors. Simple shapes.
I even did this for fun:

You think that looks right for the era?

So you’re 12 years old. It’s Friday afternoon and you’re in your local arcade with a fist full of quarters.Would you play this game?

Been on a Mario binge lately. I can’t get enough of that chubby little plumber.

Also for those interested there’s a couple new Zen Arcade Strips up at the Tumblr. It’s all going somewhere trust me. We’re going to get a few more strips down and launch a nice clean looking site to host them.

In other news there could be a big change to the website in the coming week. I feel that I’m pretty close to getting a career position that I’ve been wanting. If I get it…I’m turning heel. I’m switching up this sites look and I’m going to drop some pipebombs. Stay tuned.

Enter The Dragon…

Bruce Lee has always been a bit of an inspiration to me. I watched “The Crow” when I was a child (really not a movie to watch when you’re a kid btw) and really loved Brandon Lee’s performance. I was always told Brandon was the “son of Bruce Lee”. Thing is I was 9 or so and really didn’t know who Bruce Lee was. I found out in the coming months he was Kato on “The Green Hornet”. A television show I’d watch religiously after “Batman” late at night on TV Land.

I was in high school when I bought a collection of Bruce Lee’s movies like “Big Boss”, “Way Of The Dragon”, “Game of Death” or my personal favorite “Fist of Fury”. The guy was just awesome. His moves, his attitude. He wasn’t particularly big or menacing but for some reason he scared the shit out of you. Probably because he can kill you 9 times with his pinky. Of course, in real life I read he was one of the nicest guys to walk this earth.

Anyway, I did this poster in respect of Bruce Lee. Tried to make it look classic and vintage. I’m trying to find a dollar store owned by a Chinese person (most random statement ever) because they always sell those awesome fabric posters of Bruce Lee. I have the perfect place for one. In conclusions, Bruce Lee is the man and I need to find a Chinese dollar store.

The key to immortality is first living a life worth remembering.
