Digital Painting: Franken-Strange

Untitled-1
Glenn Strange as The Monster. Time Spent: 14 hours

Boy oh boy. Remember a year ago when I said my goal for 2017 was to get better at painting? Of course you don’t remember but I said it. I did 4 or 5 digital paintings and by March I slipped back into my comfortable style. Well I’m starting up again. One of my favorite artists has to be Basil Gogos of Famous Monsters of Filmland fame. We lost him last year, so think of this as a tribute and learning experience.

So what did I learn?

  1. Basil Gogos is on a whole ‘nother level.
  2.  It takes forever.

WolfenStein

What happens when you saw the Wolfman and Frankenstein’s Monster in half and sew them together? Well, you’d probably get a creation that loves soup, wine, and human bones. A creature that howls and scowls. A monster that fears fire and silver.

When it’s not a full moon do you think that left side of this thing turns back into a human? I wonder…

I shall call him WolfenStein! Wait, that sounds familiar doesn’t it?
