I may have outgrown playing with action figures, but I realized I pretty much do the same concept of “playing” except with drawing. I distinctly remember sitting in my grandmother’s living room and having my Power Rangers Megazord battle Hulk Hogan resulting in the loser falling down the stairs. And you could tell it was fantasy because Hogan always put that Megazord over, brother.
You know when they offer you wine at Olive Garden? I can’t count how many times I’ve responded, “I do not drink…wine.” in a horrible Transylvanian accent. Well. Actually I can: 3 times I think.
Speaking of counts…
I sat down and painting Bela Lugosi’s Count Dracula this morning. Took me about 3.5 hours. I’m already getting used to digitally painting and I’m more pleased with the results with this piece than yesterday’s. I’m no Basil Gogos but you have to start somewhere.
Nothing like Metulana The Mutant from “This Island Earth” coming face to face with a nuke. I’ve been working on highlighting lately more so how extreme highlights can change the vibe of a picture. Red usually means danger (or romance if you’re into that) but usually danger…especially when it’s a giant mutant alien. But, again, could mean romance….with a giant mutant alien.
