Return of The Kaiju King

TIME SPENT: AROUND 5 HOURS

Ho ho, how ’bout that Kong vs. Godzilla trailer? Am I right or what, fellow kids? I’ve been on a Godzilla kick lately (I mean, for about the past 17 years actually) and I realize I rarely ever draw the big guy. I based this off his mid 1990s Trendmasters/Dark Horse look. That’s my favorite Godzilla but that’s simply because I was introduced to him that way via toys and comics.

This didn’t turn out quite how I wanted it to color and perspective wise. But I felt the need to post it so I can move on and improve. I really hope I have the opportunity to see Kong v. Godzilla: Dawn of Justice on the big screen on theaters…because I feel a movie like that truly warrants it. You took so much away from so many, COVID, don’t take away our monster battles too.

Prints if you want to slap this guy on your walls…

Sketch Dump: King Kong Calamari

Time Spent: About 2 hours

Nothing beats a good monster movie. Which are unfortunately becoming a bit of a rarity these days. But, alas, Kong: Skull Island is about to change all that. It’s true cinematic adventure escapism at its finest.

And nothing beats sitting down and just drawing what comes to mind. No pose reference…no final mental image…no idea where you’re going as you put pen to paper. This is the result of that. I like drawing like this and I need to do it more.
